When KFC ran out of chicken in the UK, in 2018, it made headlines. When Australia faced an iceberg lettuce shortage in 2022, it was the talk of the town. Many of us have seen firsthand how scarcity heightens demand, causing people to panic buy everything from toilet paper to hot sauce.

So, when a national potato shortage hit Australia in 2023 we had an idea.

The potato shortage and the extensive media coverage that followed, created a feeling of scarcity. This meant consumers were craving the comfort of their favourite hot chips at a favorable price.
